According to the first visuals unveiled in April 2026 (ahead of the Annecy Festival, where the series was presented in a "Work in Progress" panel), Cars: Lightning Racers breaks with the hyper-realistic animation of the Pixar films. The rendering is more stylized and cartoonish, adapted for young audiences: smaller and rounder characters, evoking toy cars, and a redesigned Lightning McQueen with larger eyes and softer features.
