What is Cars Land?

Cars Land is a themed area of 4.9 hectares (12 acres) located in Disney California Adventure park, in Anaheim, California. It faithfully recreates the town of Radiator Springs as it appears in the film, in real-life scale.

From the main road lined with vintage shops to the mountains shaped like the Cadillac Range in the background, every detail recreates the atmosphere of Route 66 that inspired the film.

Opening and construction

Cars Land opened on June 15, 2012, as part of a massive renovation of Disney California Adventure estimated at approximately $1.1 billion.

The project, supervised with the involvement of John Lasseter (director of Cars), aimed to offer total immersion: Disney Imagineers reproduced the buildings, neon signs, and even the sounds of the town so that visitors would feel like they were stepping into the movie.

Radiator Springs Racers: the signature attraction

The jewel of Cars Land is Radiator Springs Racers, an "E-ticket" attraction considered one of the most spectacular in the entire resort.

The ride combines:

  • a "dark ride" section that reenacts scenes from the film with animatronic sets and characters
  • a high-speed outdoor race through the landscapes of Cadillac Range
  • two vehicles launched side by side in a true final race

  • Flo's V8 Café: the main restaurant, a replica of Flo's diner
  • Cozy Cone Motel: cone-shaped stands selling snacks and drinks, run by Sally
  • Fillmore's Taste-In: drinks and organic products, true to the eco-friendly character
  • Ramone's House of Body Art and Sarge's Surplus Hut: themed souvenir shops

Total Immersion, Especially at Night

One of the most beloved moments in Cars Land is nightfall. At this time, all the neon signs on the main road light up in an orchestrated sequence, recreating the iconic scene from the movie where Radiator Springs regains its lights.

This effect, true to the golden age of Route 66, completely transforms the ambiance and plunges visitors into the nostalgia of the film.

💡 The neon signs on the main street don't come on at random but in an orchestrated sequence; on your nightstand, our Cars lamps and night lights switch on with a lot less ceremony.
